The “Charity Of Goodness 3.0” and #EndPeriodPoverty is a project being carried out for the third consecutive year as a joint collaboration with several Rotaract Clubs internationally. This project aims to promote awareness on Menstrual Health and particularly the challenges faced by low-income communities who can’t afford sanitary products and directly addressing the issue of affordability of sanitary products by low-income communities.
The Rotaract Club of Colombo Regent was invited to be a part of the “Charity of Goodness” this year by The Rotaract Club of Ambarnath (India) who initiated this program in 2019, along with 99 other International Rotaract Clubs.
This year, the Rotaract Club of Colombo Regent donated Sanitary products to underprivileged girls and women. The Orphanage wishes to remain anonymous and as such, their request shall be honored.
“Charity of Goodness” aims to spread awareness regarding menstrual health on a global scale. The Rotaract Club of Colombo Regent hopes to work toward breaking the stigma surrounding this topic by conducting appropriate social media awareness programs, health camps particularly for women of low-income communities, collaborate with like-minded entities and influential personalities who are passionate about bringing awareness to this subject and sharing powerful stories that would shake the local society to its core.
One of the biggest contributors to the success of this venture is the generous donors, to whom the Club and the beneficiaries are most grateful.
The Club Members, who were exposed to several aspects of this topic in the recent months, have learned of the ugly truth and reality faced by many underprivileged communities and are considerably motivated to work toward ending Period Poverty in the island, which is an inspiring development.
